Unconventional soundscapes, piercing percussion, retrospective lyricism and Lo-Fi production are at the core of ÆM’s experimental pop sound. Inspired by artists who carve unique sonic identities like FKA Twigs and Imogen Heap, ÆM curiously uncovers her thoughts and feelings through sound design and story telling, through her lyricism and composition. Born in Almada, Portugal in 2001 and raised among Luxembourg’s international population, the artist’s cultural roots are an important part of her music. Mixing the romantic, expressive Portuguese Fado tradition and language with English in contemporary pop. She reflects the reality of Luxembourg’s population, who dance between more than one culture and language, in turn creating their own identity, distinctly different but undoubtedly attached to their origins. In November 2024 the artist released her debut EP “Chaga” that translates to “open wound”, a dangerously vulnerable record that speaks about her experiences with spirituality, sexual assault, misogyny and betrayal through a messy, vindictive and emotionally immature narrator.
